ACPO comment on consultation to increase the speed limit on motorways

ACPO lead for roads policing Chief Constable Phil Gormley said:

“ACPO is committed to working with partner agencies to keep our roads safe for all road users.

“We welcome the setting of appropriate speed limits in suitable locations which balance the safety of road users with keeping roads and our economy flowing.

“ACPO looks forward to taking part in the Government’s consultation and will be considering with colleagues in England, Wales and Northern Ireland the implications on current enforcement thresholds and whether these would need review.”
