The new guidance will form part of the Firearms Guide, used by forces when deciding whether to grant a certificate to an applicant
National policing lead on firearm licensing Chief Constable Andy Marsh said
“The refreshed Home Office Guidance is much more specific on the circumstances under which police forces can use intelligence and information to refuse or revoke a firearm certificate. A violent household is no place for a firearm and this guidance will assist police forces in preventing those who pose a risk to their family or others having access to a firearm.”
