Many of the recommendations outlined today are ideas proposed by the service as steps that we believe will ensure the public we serve retains confidence in the work that we do
ACPO lead on professional standards Chief Constable Mike Cunningham said:
“The police service is committed to serving our communities with commitment and integrity. As the Home Secretary today noted – Britain is lucky to have the finest police officers in the world. The public quite rightly expects all officers to demonstrate the highest standards of professional conduct. And while recent reports have shown that there is no evidence of endemic corruption in the service, where things do go wrong, we need to ensure they are put right.
“One of the police service’s great strengths is its transparency and openness to challenge and as leaders of the service Chief Constables are committed to ensuring that we lead by example.
“Many of the recommendations outlined today are ideas proposed by the service as steps that we believe will ensure the public we serve retains confidence in the work that we do.”
