ACPO response to International Narcotics Control Board's annual report

International Narcotics Control Board's annual report has commented on multi-partner initiatives aimed at combating drug misuse

Chief Constable Tim Hollis, ACPO lead on drugs said:

“I welcome the report in that it highlights the many positive initiatives being carried out across the country to address drug related problems. It also confirms that our current Drugs Strategy, which incorporates prevention, education, enforcement and treatment is correct. In addition to enforcement, there are successful drug prevention programmes, treatment and rehabilitation services and education programmes which all have an important role to play in combating these problems."

“I simply do not recognise the reference to 'no go' areas in the UK. It appears to be set in the broader context of social cohesion. All police forces work closely with local authorities, criminal justice partners and local communities to tackle criminality in relation to drugs, acting on intelligence received and addressing problems robustly.”
