Every chief police officer joined the service at constable rank and places huge value on the complex, difficult, incredible job the police workforce does on behalf of our communities
An ACPO spokesman said:
"The Association of Chief Police Officers comprises the 329 senior officers across all 44 police forces of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, plus non territorial forces. Every chief police officer joined the service at constable rank and places huge value on the complex, difficult, incredible job the police workforce does on behalf of our communities.
“Meeting the financial challenges facing the police service is tough. As senior officers we will continue to speak out publicly and privately about the decisions that need to be taken in each force. The daily evidence of the effort and commitment our police officers and staff put into keeping communities safe shows that the whole police service shares a determination to remain focussed on delivering the best possible policing to the public.”
