National Police Chiefs’ Council Lead on International Policing, Chief Constable Andy Marsh comments after two British police officers, deployed to Mallorca and Ibiza in a two week trial to assist Spanish colleagues during the summer holiday period, help secure arrest of a wanted British national.
‘Further to preventative activity and patrols conducted during this summers trial deployment, the issuing and successful execution of this warrant illustrates the benefit that working directly alongside foreign colleagues can have.
‘It highlights the scope of work the officers were involved in and how effective their presence was in preventing and tackling crime beyond that of just excessive alcohol or unruly behaviour.
‘We are continuing to engage with colleagues both here and abroad to understand the full impact of the trial and identify lessons learnt to inform decision making for any proposed future deployments.’
