How can members of the public spot a cannabis farm? The National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) Lead for Cannabis, ACC Bill Jephson, has given out some tips.
— STRONG, sickly cannabis smell or overwhelming use of air fresheners.
— WINDOWS constantly covered and blacked-out.
— A STREAM of different late-night visitors.
— STRONG, constant light during the day and night.
— HIGH levels of heat coming through the walls of a neighbouring property.
— CONDENSATION in the windows.
— A CONSTANT low buzzing noise from extractor systems.
— CABLES, plastic sheeting and compost bags dumped by bins, in garden or the street.
Cannabis cultivation not only feeds a multimillion-pound black market in an increasingly potent and dangerous drug but it is a key driver in modern slavery.
If you suspect illegal activity may be taking place in your area, call the police on 101 or report it anonymously through Crimestoppers using 0800 555 111.
