National Police Chiefs’ Council lead for Counter Drones, Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi, said:
“We are issuing a reminder to drone users to check restrictions on where you can use your drone.
“For the public’s safety and security, in the lead up to and through the funeral of Her Majesty The Queen, there is a temporary restriction on the use of drones across the ceremonial sites in Scotland, London and Windsor until the 19th of September, and these must not be operated for photography or any other reasons.
“It is your responsibility to fly your drone safely and within the law*. Any breaches of the law may result in you facing prosecution and your drone being seized.
“Police have the capability to detect unlawful drone use, to locate pilots and the power to seize equipment, and will seek to investigate and take enforcement action against anyone found to be breaking the law."
